The Die Corrector A is responsible to perform repairs and testing on dies to prepare them for production and suggest opportunities for improvement on failing dies.

The Die Corrector A is responsible to perform repairs and testing on dies to prepare them for production and suggest opportunities for improvement on failing dies.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor and gather data on new dies and problem die production runs
- Clean, polish, nitride, and inspect tooling and dies for stress cracks and wear
- Perform, examine, inspect, and document extrusion front-end samples and die performance
- Keep accurate record of receipt on die cards for die number, backers, feeders, bolsters, and number of cavities
- Perform the following die correction techniques as required: choke, relief, tearing, shifted, sink, drop off, surface finish, flatness, port opening, balanced flow, shorter bearing length, and equal port opening techniques
- Operate the lathe, milling machines, and die grinder safely as required
- Work to open key slots and pin holes on dies
- Accurately read die measurements through the use of micrometers, clippers, height gauges, depth micrometers, taper gauges, divider calipers, thickness gauges, etc.
- Use die maker squares, precision squares, and rockwell hardness testers to check for flatness
- Use the needle file technique to check bearing gaps and use mill files as needed to remove bearing washout
- Assist in making correction suggestions for failing dies
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times
- Responsible to follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Can Art Company Policies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-Secondary education in Tool & Die is an asset
- Minimum 5 years experience in a die correction capacity
- Previous experience in heavy manufacturing is an asset
- Basic computer skills required
- Able to perform arc welding
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Able to work at a quick pace with strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, time management and multitasking skills
- Team player that is able to work with little to no supervision
- Knowledge of health and safety best practices in a manufacturing environment
- Plant Environment
- Twelve hour rotating continental shift
- Exposure to loud noise and heat
- May be required to lift up to 50lbs
- Overtime as needed
